Update 

At the Special Council Meeting on the 31st of July 2015, the Members of Kilkenny County Council adopted Variation No. 1 of the Kilkenny City & Environs Development Plan 2014-2020 and approved the Masterplan for the Abbey Creative Quarter, in accordance with the recommendations contained in the Chief Executive's Reports (published below).

Update July 2015

Proposed Variation No. 1 of the Kilkenny City & Environs Development Plan is now on public display.  See  https://consult.kilkenny.ie for all the details.  The latest date for receipt of submissions is 5pm Tuesday the 21 of July 2015.

The Draft Masterplan for the Abbey Creative Quarter is now also on public dislay.  See https://consult.kilkenny.ie for all the details. The latest date for receipt of submissions is 5pm Tuesday the 21st of July 2015.

What is Ourplan?

This site is the portal for all planning related issues in County Kilkenny. 

It was originally developed for the process of reviewing the Kilkenny County and City Development Plans, and this process ran from 2012 until Summer 2014.  Both Plans are now adopted.

Heres an update on various planning issues in the County at present.

Abbey Quarter/Smithwicks Brewery Site
Two very productive public consultation workshops, entitled The Brewery:
Re-Visioning, were held in January, and thanks to everyone who attended.
Thanks also to everyone who made a submission to the Re-Visioning process.
The closing date for submissions was the 9th February 2015.

Dear ourplan user,

Further to our email of the 12th December, we would like to inform you that
we had a huge response to this open call, and the workshop on the 9th and
10th is now fully booked up. We have now organised another, alternative
weekend to cater for the demand; this will take place on the 23rd and 24th
January.

Hello to all our registered users,

As you may be aware, Kilkenny County Council is currently engaged in a
process of drawing up a Master Plan for the long-term redevelopment of the
Smithwick’s Brewery lands in Kilkenny city centre.

As part of this Master Plan process, we are holding a Public Workshop about
the Brewery site on the 9th and 10th of January 2015.

Hello to all our registered users,

Here’s an update on various planning issues in the County at present.

Abbey Quarter / Smithwick's Brewery Site
A draft masterplan for the Smithwick's site and Bateman Quay was
presented to Kilkenny Borough Council at a public meeting in City Hall on
the 5th of November 2013. The draft masterplan was then placed on public
display for a 6 week period, during which time the Council received 38
submissions from members of the public and statutory authorities.
